Although most Chinese do not speak English, it is not uncommon to find the English language spoken during business discussions and meetings. China is engaged in a major program to introduce the English language at all levels of education and is very proud that it was awarded the 2008 Olympic Games. The Chinese people have been making a major effort to demonstrate the progress that China has made to the rest of the world.

As long as you are able to accept Chinese culture and values within the context of doing business in China, it is a comfortable country in which to do business. While there are political differences between the U.S. and Chinese governments, you will find most Chinese accommodating, friendly, and eager to further business relationships. The major cities all have large foreign communities, and Americans living in China generally find it quite pleasant.
